Emily arrived on Thursday morning, and I was totally shocked when she and Cory walked into the living room to surprise me. That day we spent a few hours at the pool and had dinner with Kate. Friday we went to happy hour and walked around downtown Denver. Saturday morning we had breakfast at the Farmer's Market and then drove up to Breckenridge for a beautiful 6 mile hike. I was so proud of Emily for making it to the top. It was a difficult hike, but so worth it! That night we had some great pizza from Fatty's Pizzeria and walked around Breckenridge for a while. We went back to the hotel and got into the outdoor hot tubs. It was chilly outside, so that felt so good! Emily was supposed to fly home on Sunday evening, but the traffic on east bound I-70 was terrible, and we missed her flight! So, she ended up flying home on Monday. It was a great weekend. I hope that she had as much fun as I did! I can't wait until she moves here for good!

A Baby Changes Everything...
Having a baby is such a life changing experience. It is love at first sight, and nothing is ever the same. For me, it was a tough transition at first. So many of our friends are single, or married with no children. They were all still going to happy hours, concerts, and other fun things - while I was home taking care of Henry. It really was hard because I wanted to get out of the house and relax every once in a while, but I also didn't want to leave Henry - I hate missing his bedtime routine and kissing him goodnight. I just felt so torn. Lately it is easier. I would rather be with Henry than anything else. He is 6 months old and is so fun to hang out with.
Last weekend we had a backyard cookout. It was Henry's 6 month birthday and we wanted to make an effort to see our friends. We made a bunch of food - I thought that it ended up being a great time. But it did bring me to one realization: now that we have a child, I feel like we really don't have that much in common with those friends anymore. It makes me sad, but I think it is true. Is it time to move to the suburbs and make friends with all of the soccer moms out there? I wish that our single and childless friends were more understanding about the way our lives have changed since Henry arrived. He is our priority now. He will always come first. They will never really understand that until they have children of their own...

So Blessed
Hi all. Just a quick note tonight. I was watching Oprah today, and she was doing a show about miracle children. All very touching stories, but one in particular was so moving - it made me cry so much. It made me realize that Cory and I are so blessed to have such a healthy and happy baby and that we should never take anything for granted. Check out the YouTube video - I'm sure it will bring you to tears as well.
