Henry's Baptism

Henry's baptism was Saturday June 27th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He did so well and was a huge hit with all of the parishoners! I was so proud of him - he didn't fuss or cry at all during the mass and didn't even mind Father Ken pouring the water over his head. I was so grateful for the friends and family that were able to attend.

Thanks to everyone for the support and gifts! Henry is a lucky boy to have such wonderful and supportive family and friends!

A Baby Changes Everything...

Having a baby is such a life changing experience. It is love at first sight, and nothing is ever the same. For me, it was a tough transition at first. So many of our friends are single, or married with no children. They were all still going to happy hours, concerts, and other fun things - while I was home taking care of Henry. It really was hard because I wanted to get out of the house and relax every once in a while, but I also didn't want to leave Henry - I hate missing his bedtime routine and kissing him goodnight. I just felt so torn. Lately it is easier. I would rather be with Henry than anything else. He is 6 months old and is so fun to hang out with.
Last weekend we had a backyard cookout. It was Henry's 6 month birthday and we wanted to make an effort to see our friends. We made a bunch of food - I thought that it ended up being a great time. But it did bring me to one realization: now that we have a child, I feel like we really don't have that much in common with those friends anymore. It makes me sad, but I think it is true. Is it time to move to the suburbs and make friends with all of the soccer moms out there? I wish that our single and childless friends were more understanding about the way our lives have changed since Henry arrived. He is our priority now. He will always come first. They will never really understand that until they have children of their own...

So Blessed

Hi all. Just a quick note tonight. I was watching Oprah today, and she was doing a show about miracle children. All very touching stories, but one in particular was so moving - it made me cry so much. It made me realize that Cory and I are so blessed to have such a healthy and happy baby and that we should never take anything for granted. Check out the YouTube video - I'm sure it will bring you to tears as well.

Pool Time

Henry's first day at the pool went very well. He really seemed to enjoy himself in the water. He liked catching some rays and checking out the ladies, and he liked kicking his legs in the water. Such a big, handsome boy!

Henry is 6 months old!

We can't believe it - Henry is already 6 months old. Where has the last half year gone?! So many changes - he is rolling around all over the place and wants to crawl so badly... He has his first tooth... He is sleeping through the night... Life is pretty good!

We had a little backyard cookout yesterday for his 6 month birthday. He had fun being held by all the pretty grown-up girls! He is such a happy and fun baby!

Henry's 1st trip to Springfield

We just got back from our trip to Springfield for Memorial Day weekend. We were there for about a week and a half. It was Henry's first road trip and he did so well! It was great seeing all of our family and friends there. The only down side - humidity and very unhealthy food! Now we're having to work extra hard to get back into shape! Thanks to everyone who made our trip fun!
